Over the next two years, U.S. Group, Inc., as the contractor responsible for the S.C. 901 widening project, will be busy working on widening and improving this key roadway, as well as improving adjacent roads. This project will fulfull a long-time vision of creating a regional bypass around Rock Hill, connecting central York County directly to Interstate 77.

Generally, construction projects move in the following matter:

  • Clearing the roadway and moving utilities.
  • Grading operations and installation of storm drain pipes. Bridge work will usually begin during this stage.
  • Work on final grade of roadway and concrete items, such as curb, gutter, and sidewalks.
  • Paving of the new areas of the roadway. Bridge work usually will be completed during this stage.
  • Repair and improve the existing roadway.
  • Install signs, striping and pavement markers (reflectors).
  • Open the new roadway.
  • Clean-up and final detail work.
Using this guide, you can keep up with the progress of work. But please keep in mind that due to the different circumstances of every project, some of these details may vary in order, as well as duration.
