Company first in South Carolina to receive Incumbent Worker Training grant
March 4, 2007
U.S. Group, Inc. recently became the first construction company in South Carolina to receive an Incumbent Worker Grant for employee training. This grant was used to develop a program and provide selected USG employees a meaningful career learning experience.
Palmetto Training, Inc. (PTI) and York Technical College jointly developed the curriculum, which was based on information provided by several USG employees. PTI assisted with the grant submission process and contracted with instructors from York Technical College to provide classroom instruction.
Training programs such as these are “win-win” efforts, where employees benefit by improving their job skills and safety awareness and the company benefits through improved production efficiency and enhanced quality of the work being performed for our clients. This also allows the company to meet a higher standard of customer satisfaction.
USG plans to provide more training of this type in the future, to help teach job skills and create new opportunities for our employees.
