Clarendon and Fairfield SCDOT project completions wrap up 2006
December 8, 2006
The end of 2006 saw the completion of two major highway construction contracts which will help open up rural communities for greater economic development. The completion of the widening of U.S. 521 in Clarendon County and the new Peach Road interchange in Fairfield County were heralded as milestones which included some of U.S. Group’s largest contracts to date.
SCDOT Commissioner Bobby Jones of Camden praised the Peach Road project in Fairfield County as “a team effort where everyone came together to accomplish something of lasting value to Fairfield County. There is much to be proud of here.”
According to State Senator John Land, “water, sewer and gas lines have already been extended to 521, just waiting for four lanes to open up, so we can start working to bring more industry and better jobs to Clarendon County.”
“Our proudest achievement on this project was putting safety first on the 521 project,” said Gary Stroble, Lowcountry Operations Manager. “We had no serious employee injuries on this project, which is something we all should be thankful for.”
