LAKE CAROLINA

Since work began on the Lake Carolina development in northeastern Richland County, Lake Carolina has become one of the most prominent communities in the Midlands, covering nearly 2000 acres near Clemson Road.

From the initial design work and permitting to engineering and construction, U.S. Group, Inc. provided the full range of its services to this project and takes pride in its role in building this development project.

Voted Columbia's Community of the Year for eight years in a row, this master-planned development offers thousands of Midlands residents a quality community lifestyle, complete with a large lake for fishing, schools, a “town center” with shops, and even a YMCA.

Lake Carolina, the centerpiece of this development, was excavated at the outset of the project, and covers over 250 acres at the center of the development, ranging from five feet deep at the upper end to over forty. Current plans for the development call for approximately 2,500 homes when completed around 2010, but plans are in the works for an expansion that may grow that total to over 3,000 homes.
